(China Accounting and Finance Review, 2025-08) Tiwari, Aviral Kumar; Abdullah, Mohammad; Sarker, Provash Kumer; Abakah, Emmanuel Joel Aikins
Purpose – This study explores the static and dynamic interconnectedness between real world asset (RWA) tokens and traditional commodities. Additionally, the study examines the role of uncertainty factors in explaining the interconnectedness. Finally, the study examines portfolio diversification opportunities. Design/methodology/approach – A novel R-squared based time-frequency connectedness approach is used to examine interconnectedness using data from March 14, 2018, to June 9, 2023. To compute optimal portfolio weights and hedging ratios for each pair, the DCC-GARCH model is utilized and the best weights and hedge ratios are estimated. Findings – The static connectedness result shows that RWA tokens and commodities demonstrate a relatively lower level of interconnectedness. The dynamic connectedness measures unveil time-varying interconnectedness, particularly heightened during economic events. Moreover, global uncertainty factors are positively associated with connectedness, emphasizing the multifaceted channels through which shock is transmitted. Portfolio analysis underscores potential diversification opportunities between RWAs and commodities, offering insights for informed decision-making in navigating the evolving landscape of blockchain-based assets and traditional commodities. Originality/value – The main novelty of this manuscript is the exploration of RWA tokens, an emerging asset class that has received limited academic attention compared to cryptocurrencies, NFTs and DeFi. Unlike prior studies, this research employs a novel R-Squared-based time-frequency connectedness approach to analyze the static and dynamic linkages betweenRWA and traditional commodities. It also examines global uncertainty factors and incorporates portfolio backtesting, providing insightsfor investorsseeking diversification in tokenized assets.

Development of a framework for Poka-Yoke system performance assessment during the service design for attaining leanness
(International Journal of Lean Six Sigma, 2025-12-02) James, Ajith Tom; Kumar, Girish; Goyal, Manasvi; Prakash, Prachi
Purpose This paper aims to develop a framework for assessing the futuristic Poka-Yoke system performance of service businesses toward attaining leanness during their design phase considering various factors enhancing Poka-Yoke system performance. The paper also attempts to validate the framework by implementing it in the service business of pathology laboratories. Design/methodology/approach Various factors and subfactors that enhance Poka-Yoke system performance are identified through literature. A structural methodology based on graph theory and matrix approach is applied to developing the Poka-Yoke system performance index (PYSPI). The Poka-Yoke enhancing factors and their interrelations, with due consideration of their structure, are modeled through graph theory. The performance factor digraph is defined; the nodes of this represent the Poka-Yoke enhancing factors, while the edges represent their degrees of interrelationship. The equivalent matrix of the digraph forms a Poka-Yoke system performance function that will yield the evolution of the PYSPI.

Navigating challenges for supply chain transparency in the digital enterprises
(Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, 2025-09-30) Sonar, Harshad; Ghag, Nikhil; Kumar, Shashank; Jagtap, Sandeep; Kumar, Anil
Purpose – In the age of digital businesses, the rise of innovative digital transformation has made supply chain transparency (SCT) an essential research topic. While digital technologies provide possibilities for enhancing transparency in supply chains, there is limited research on how digital businesses overcome different SCT issues or provide real-time visibility and traceability. This study aims to investigate the different challenges of transparency in supply chains for digital businesses in the age of digital transformation. Design/methodology/approach – Challenges are identified through a comprehensive literature review and finalized through the fuzzyDelphi method after industry experts’ validation. Data is gathered, ranked and prioritized through the analytic hierarchy process entropy method. Findings – The study reveals that challenges related to data privacy and security, supplier resistance and lack of data standardization grouped under Cluster 1 (critical digital friction points) pose the most significant barriers to SCT in digital enterprises. These are followed by Cluster 2 (operational capability gaps) and Cluster 3 (external and strategic constraints), highlighting a clear prioritization framework for addressing SCT issues in a structured, phased manner. Research limitations/implications – By leveraging advanced digital technologies to gather, share and analyze supply chain data, digital enterprises can overcome these challenges, enhance operational effectiveness and gain stakeholders’ trust. These findings can be used by policymakers to develop guidelines that enhance transparency while maintaining data security. Practitioners can develop targeted strategies to address supplier resistance and infrastructure deficiencies. Originality/value – This study makes three distinct contributions. First, it fills a gap in the current literature by initiating a clear debate on SCT beyond generic or sustainability-focused models, illuminating its unique dimensions in digital enterprises. Second, it demonstrates the practical importance of SCT by identifying and prioritizing the key challenges that are faced by digitally transforming companies. Third, it advances theory by contrasting traditional perspectives with new insights drawn from our findings, offering both actionable guidance and novel conceptual frameworks for transparency in digitally enabled supply chains

Geopolitical risk and corporate investment inefficiency: evidence from India
(Journal of Accounting Literature, 2025-10-01) Yadav, Akash Singh; Yadav, Inder Sekhar; Wali Ullah, G.M.
Purpose – Thisstudy investigatesthe influence of geopolitical risk on firm investment inefficiency and explore the moderating role of corporate governance on the above relationship using a dataset of 43,182 observations from Indian-listed firms between 2002 and 2023. Design/methodology/approach – The study employs pooled ordinary least squares regression models with firm and year fixed effects. Robustness tests include entropy balancing and alternative proxies, quantile regression and endogeneity checks via two-stage least squares and Oster (2019) omitted variables test. Findings – The results shows that heightened geopolitical risk significantly worsens investment inefficiency, increasing both overinvestment and underinvestment, while strong corporate governance mitigates these effects. Cross-sectional analysis shows the impact is more pronounced in firms with lower cash holdings, more irreversible investments, fewer financial constraints, those operating in industries with higher exposure to geopolitical risk and those in competitive industries. Practical implications – The study highlights the positive impact of geopolitical risk on investment inefficiency, emphasizing the need for financial support mechanisms such as subsidies and credit facilities. Firms should adopt proactive investment strategies while strengthening corporate governance, disclosure and transparency to reduce information asymmetry. Investors should prioritize firms with strong governance, and regulators must promote competition-friendly policies to ensure efficient capital allocation under high geopolitical risk. Originality/value – This study advances corporate finance literature by providing new evidence regarding the impact of geopolitical risk on investment inefficiency. It is among the first studies to show that strong corporate governance mitigates adverse effects of geopolitical risk. Additionally, it examines how cash holdings, irreversible investments, financial constraints and market competition shape the geopolitical risk–investment inefficiency relationship.
